Shibui men
I saw Hollywood Homicide last nite and it ended my infatuation with Mr. Shibui aka Harrison Ford. He looks so old and haggardy! A few years ago I wud never associate Ford with the word haggardy...
I was a bit upset when he went out with Ms Walking Stick Ally McBeal a few years ago…but no more. But heck, I still think he is a wonderful actor though :)
I love all the films he was in. I didn’t realized Harrison Ford was in the movie "Force 10 from Navarone" (corrected :) until I saw a bit of it in Bonn. I’ve only read the book before. One Hollywood actor that I respect for his talent is Tom Hanks eventhough I don't find him shibui at all. He gave all his films a distinct personality. I realized this when I figured most of the movies I like such as the Green Mile has him as the main actor.
Now I think Antonio Banderas the sexy Spaniard is a real dish (saw a few Banderas-look-alike in Madrid and Barcelona ;), while Patrick Dempsey and that cute Colin Firth aka Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones Diary are rather cute ;) Well Banderas may just seem all brawn but he was brilliant as the voice of the Cat in Shrek 2 :) Dempsey and Firth seem like the smart brooding type.
And yes, gray matter is very sexy in a man.
But I think Viggo Mortensen aka Aragorn from LOTR wins the trophy for me as the dark brooding type whom I read somewhere is very smart and a poet..and most importantly such a humble and low profile person. (so not sure I can boycott "admiring" him eventhough he is a Dane..)
How can I forget Ken Watanabe as imbuing the very word "shibui-ness" in a man. For those who are not familiar with him, he is Mr. Chairman in Memoirs of a Geisha, but I think he is most shibui as head of Samurai in the Last Samurai. I also think Chow Yun Fatt (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) is shibui too ;) and most importantly I heard he is a really nice guy (when he was in Malaysia filming the King and I) and that is what make him attractive.
Most girls in Malaysia will agree with me that M.Nasir is the most shibui male of all in this region hah ;) in terms of talent and rugged looks. When I took Maria this Greek girl and another American girl to watch Puteri Gunung Ledang.. all they keep saying to me is how good looking and shibui M Nasir is! eventhough they don't understand what the movie is about as it was in Malay :) Another person is Ramli the percussionist from the very talented Mohram duo. I would say M. Nasir is one of the most talented and prolific song writers after the legendary P. Ramlee and Ramli and Mohram are two of the most talented duo from this region. Their music is akin to Kitaro for me. These folks are made the more shibui becoz of their talents.
But I love Cat Stevens aka Yusof Islam since I was little. Mainly coz he is such a deep spiritual thinking individual and this reflects in all his songs and beautiful beautiful wordings. I think his faith, humility and beautiful character rises above all.
OK.. so I am just like any other girls and do “drool”;) over some men.
Hah! So sue me :P~
